The 2018 SELTI Writing Contest is officially underway. This year’s featured city is Montgomery, Alabama, a small city with a unique and varied past that has been entwined in our nation’s history in powerful ways, from the birth of the Confederacy to the birth of the Civil Rights Movement. Many other historical figures have entered Montgomery’s history, from F. Scott Fitzgerald and Zelda Fitzgerald, to Hank Williams, to the Wright Brothers, just to name a few. Inspirations for a tourism short story are literally around just about every corner of this Southern city. Once again, the Alabama Tourism Department is sponsoring the first place prize of $500. The deadline for entries is November 15. Read the official rules with tips and links for review here: 2018 SELTI Writing Contest.
